Elly is a Dumpster Diva!

Elly here. I went dumpster diving for the VERY FIRST TIME last night. Seeing as it was my first attempt I didn’t expect to find much. I’m well aware that sometimes it takes a while to figure out the throw-away cycles. But I figured it would be fun for Mr. E, Agent 6, and I. It was a blast! And…we actually scored some awesome stuff! A lot of places we went to had their dumpsters behind locked gates. While dumpster diving is legal in my city trespassing is not. So we had to pass on those. We also came across a lot of enclosed dumpsters (compactors, I think). But we did get lucky at T. V. Billy, The Prophet’s Grocery, and the apartment complex next door. We found:

chair

a chair that is broken…but can be easily fixed and is a beautiful, simple design

trashcan

a metal trashcan that still had a price tag on the bottom ($16)

chips

$35 worth of sealed tortilla chips (technically expired…but seriously, does anyone honestly think expired tortilla chips are gonna make ‘em sick? the worst that could happen is you have some stale chips)

bulbs

$200 worth of fluorescent bulbs! (we don’t have a use for them, but we’re gonna try to sell them)

particle board

and 1 big sheet of laminated particle board (we’re gonna use it for our toilet mod)

It just goes to show how wasteful (and silly) people can be. I still can’t believe someone threw away $200 worth of light bulbs!
